Ringling Museum Sarasota Fl.

Did you know that the Ringling Museum is free every Monday?  (except for the Circus Museum and the Ca’d’Zan Mansion).  John Ringling made this free day stipulation as part of his will…   One of the best things you can do with your family or friends is an early morning walk at the Ringling Museum!  Did you know you may walk the grounds of the Ringling any day of the week (no charge) you can usually bypass the line and let them know you are here to just walk the grounds… There are an amazing 66 acres!  There is also a play area for children that does not require admission to visit, called David F. Blogger Playspace, the playground is mostly in the shade with a 3-story slide, unusual bucket swings, and provides a great place to unwind.

When you visit be sure to bring your camera there are so many amazing sites to see.  Just remember there is no flash photography in the galleries, and some don’t allow any photography.  The grounds are beautiful, with many Banyan Trees, Ferns, lush green grass, beautiful buildings, and the spectacular Bayfront…  The Art Museum was established in 1927.  Upon Ringling’s death, his property and art collection, plus an endowment of 1.2 million was given to the people of the State of Florida, in 2000, it was transferred to Florida State University.  One instruction of Ringling’s will stated the name could not be changed.

If it’s in the budget the Ringling is a stunning venue for daytime or evening weddings, with its lush landscape, pretty statues, beautiful architecture, and a beautiful Rose Garden.  It would make a nice backdrop for a stunning Florida Wedding.

You’ll find a gift shop, Starbucks, Muse Restaurant, conveniently located inside the entry building.

The museum is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm and 8 pm Admission is $25.  Exhibitions change, so there’s always something new to check out…  There’s after hours, on Thursdays, with Art After 5 (admission is $15.)  There’s also Ringling by the Bay monthly, at the Bolger Campiello, with live music and dancing from 5 to 8 pm. There’s a circus this summer called Incredibello. $15 for adults, $12 for children. (see link below) The museum is only closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.  It is located at 5401 Bayshore Rd. Sarasota, Fl. 34243 (take the University exit off 1-75 head west for about 7 miles and you’ll see it right in front of you at US41/Tamiami Trail) There’s usually plenty of free parking unless there’s an event and they have offsite parking and shuttles.
